About Perth Hills Vet

Hi, my name is Dr Rosan and I believe vets have the best job ever! We get to advise and consult, perform surgeries and play with lots of great diagnostic tools. Building relationships and connecting to our furry friends’ owners is just as important to me as the skills required to provide excellent care for our beloved animals. Whether they are large or small, from cats and dogs to cows and horses, all animals get my full devotion and curiosity when it comes to veterinary care.

I graduated in 2015 from Utrecht University in the Netherlands. I have always been in love with the playful, stubborn nature of cows (like dogs in the wrong suit) so I started working as a veterinarian for cattle in the Eastern part of the Netherlands. I really enjoyed working together with farmers, keeping a focus on veterinary care as well as the economical side of running a business. When our equine clients started growing, I decided to broaden my skills and knowledge and started working with horses as well. Quietly, my dream to move to Australia began. I passed the NAVLE exam (the veterinary licensing exam in North America) after months of dedicated studying and learning about all species again. This meant I could go wherever in the world I wanted to go as a veterinarian! In 2018, my husband and I decided to move to Australia and what an adventure it has been! We lived in Victoria for 3 years, where I took on an equine internship in surgery & anaesthesia. Our beautiful daughter, Nora, was born, and after a few months, I decided to start working with a stud farm for horses. Covid hit hard in Victoria which made us look at other states in Australia. My husband and I decided to buy a house in the beautiful hills in Perth. Conveniently located close to lots of small animal clinics, I transitioned to small animals. It has been amazing to see all the possibilities in diagnostics, treatments and surgeries. Our son, Elden, was born and I continued helping the clinics around me with locum shifts which gave me the freedom to spend time with my family as well. I later grew into a head vet position at a small animal clinic with a prime focus on surgeries (you can always wake me up for a surgery!). After more than 10 years working with different species, for different clinics and with different views, I developed a strong passion to start my own business. Dedicated to providing great care, whilst following my own values in the veterinary industry: working alongside clients, owners, farmers to create the best plan for everyone. Honest advice, sharing deep knowledge, listening with compassion, problem-solving skills and a tailored plan is what you will experience when choosing to work with me at Perth Hills Vet.

Family time is important to us, so outside work, we spend lots of time hiking, camping, playing sports, cooking/baking, gardening and renovating our home.

As a vet, my key goal is to create a safe environment for clients and patients. In my advice, I believe it is essential to take emotional, financial and economical aspects into account. To consider all these aspects, great communication, a good understanding and a caring relationship is imperative.
