Your questions answered:

• How do I prepare for a home visit?

Choose the best suitable environment for you and your pet. Whether it is inside or outside, it is best done in a fairly confined space. Cats should be kept indoors for a vet visit, but if your dog loves an open space, you may want to put a harness/collar/lead on in order for the vet to examine him/her. A table or elevated top may be beneficial in some cases. Don’t forget to have their current medications and relevant medical information available!

• What is expected from you while your animal is being examined?

While the Dr Rosan examines your animal, it is encouraged to help holding your pet and to give positive rewards (either verbal or by giving treats). If your pet is anxious or aggressive, please let us know so that we can modify our approach and keep everyone safe!

• What can be treated during a home visit?

Home visits can be suitable for a range of concerns, including general health checks, vaccinations, minor illness, triage, supportive care, wound care, skin and ear problems, mobility issues and quality of life conversations. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you are unsure if your pet’s condition is suitable for a home visit.

Book a farm visit consultation if you have a sick or injured animal that requires assessment and/or treatment. Dr Rosan will provide honest and straightforward advice for the best care possible for your goat, sheep, cow, alpaca or chicken.

Nothing worse than getting home from work to a sick or injured animal. Did they eat something they shouldn’t? Unsure if you should rush to an emergency clinic? Dr Rosan can help and will come out to check your animal.
Afterhours consultations can also be booked for non-emergencies, perfect for people with busy work schedules.

No more stressful car rides and nervous pets. Or simply more time for other things at home. Vaccinations in the comfort of your home or garden. Dr Rosan comes out for individual vaccinations/health checks and for litters. Vaccination is a great way to keep preventable diseases away from your pets. For litter pricing, please contact us directly.

A microchip is our greatest way of finding our animal when they have accidentally wandered. Dr Rosan uses the newest technology with the smallest implant. Why does that matter? Your animal will tell, as it requires a much smaller needle. A microchip is not only suitable for dogs and cats; most animals can be microchipped and registered so they can be safely brought back home when they ever get lost. For litter pricing, please contact us directly.

As a hobby farmer, your herd may be a bit too small for a full vaccination bottle. Or you just do not want to inject your own animals, rightfully so! But protection is important and the best way to prevent your animals from getting sick. So whether you have 1, 2 or more animals, please don’t hesitate to contact us for a quote to vaccinate your animals.

Worms and parasites are known to infect all animals. For dogs and cats it is recommended to worm them every 3 months in their adult life. However, they are all different (indoors/outdoors/scavengers/etc) and so worming advice can be tailored to your animals.

Fecal egg counts give us further information on worm status and is common in farm animals and horses. If you are interested in a fecal egg count including a tailored worming advice ($35), please contact us!

If you are lost in all the different types of worms and worming medication or unsure of the recommended worming advice for the little ones, advice is only a phone call away.

Do you need a vet right away? Troubled labour or breech? Did your animal get injured and require immediate attention? Or did your dog get into some chocolate biscuits? No need to rush to emergency, induced vomiting can be safely done at home. And don’t worry, we take care of the mess as well.

If your animal has suddenly declined in health and you are unsure why, Dr Rosan can triage and support patients that require immediate care. She will provide honest and clear advice that may lead to some patients needing a referral to a hospital for further support. If that is the case, you only have to worry about the transport of your animal to the elected hospital. The handover of information and preparing the hospital for your arrival will be done directly by Dr Rosan.

Some animals may be discharged from the hospital, but require aftercare support. For these patients, care at home may add to a smooth recovery.

In most cases, blood tests can be safely done at home or in the paddock. Some animals may require a mild sedative given before the vet comes, but most are fine without. Dr Rosan uses all skills and techniques to make the experience as low-stress as possible and will guide you as an owner on how you could help creating this environment. All blood samples are sent off to a veterinary, accredited external laboratory for analysis.

This same lab is used for pathology, cytology, urinalysis, etc.

If you have found a lump or bump on your animal, it is recommended to get it checked by a vet. Dr Rosan may advise to take a sample from it to either test it in-house or send it off to the external lab for pathologist’s interpretation.

Prices vary depending on external lab fees. Please feel free to enquire at any time if you would like any diagnostics done.

Some animals require monthly medication administered by a veterinarian, whether it is for arthritis or allergies. Dr Rosan will come to your house so it will save you and your fur friend a trip to the clinic.

Please note this price excludes the travel fee and medication. For an exact quote please send us an email with the medication required and the weight of your animal.

Prescriptions can be given to animals that are under the direct care of the prescribing veterinarian. For chronic conditions or long-term medications, that means we will have to see your animal every 6 months for a health check.

Depending on the medication prescribed, these scripts can be filled online, at human pharmacies or at compounding (veterinary) pharmacies.
